Two updated revision booklets for German A Level (Year 1 and Year 2), split up by topics and sub-themes from the AQA German text books to aid students with revision for the photo card speaking examination. The revision aid contains 4 pages per booklet. They combine a range of verbs, complex phrases, relevant facts and figures, which are key things that the examiners will be looking for to achieve the highest marks in their exams (according to the A Level speaking mark scheme). Progress Ladder Feedback Grid for KS3 and GCSE Writing and Speaking for the 9-1 GCSE in French, German and Spanish I have created this Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 writing and speaking marking feedback grid for the new AQA 9-1 GCSE and use it with general or assessed pieces of French, German and Spanish work. The grid is linked to a progress ladder that we use in school, which shows the elements students are required to include to progress from grades 1-9 in the two skills in these subjects. My school has been using it since October and I have found that it has really sped up my marking time. I circle elements that students haven’t included and they must refer back to it before completing their next piece of written or spoken work. I also insist that my students learn these elements by heart in order and they have done this, which is definitely helping with an improvement in grades. Hopefully it’s useful to you all as well! German GCSE and A Level Passive Revision Lesson I put this passive revision lesson together for a private A-Level German student, who has just started to learn German. It contains a step-by-step PowerPoint, starting by discussing current passive knowledge, as well as the passive in English with some practice. Normally, students don’t have too much of an issue using the passive in English when they start working through the activity. The lesson continues by discussing what is required for the passive in German, followed by lots of short practice, progressively getting more and more difficult. The final activity is completing the English sentences from the beginning with the German forms of the passive. Please note: the lesson does not contain any passive modal verb practice, but instead, plenty of passive practice using the present, imperfect, present perfect, past perfect and future and starts off discussing the passive in English, to ensure students understand the concept in English first. The passive cheat sheet image is something I found on TES and is not my work. However, I have found it useful to give as a handout to students (in addition to the lesson I have prepared) and so have attached it for you - with thanks to the original author for this!
